How Much Does Wallpaper Cost in Ghana?
The Real Question Behind “How Much?”
When someone calls Wallpapers Ghana and asks what wallpaper costs, they are almost never asking about the price of a single roll. They are asking a bigger question: what will it cost to make this wall look right, and stay right? That number depends on the wallcovering you choose, the size and condition of the wall, and the work needed to prepare it. We have been answering that question across Accra since 1985, so here is an honest breakdown rather than a single headline figure.
Indicative Roll Prices by Type
Wallpaper is sold by the roll, and the type drives the price far more than the brand name printed on the label. These are indicative retail ranges in Ghana — useful for planning, not a quote.
Vinyl Wallpaper — ~₵50–100 per roll
The washable, durable workhorse. Vinyl wipes clean, tolerates humidity, and suits hallways, children’s rooms and busy walls. It is the most accessible entry point into a proper wallcovering.
Non-Woven Wallpaper — ~₵80–150 per roll
The breathable, paste-the-wall all-rounder for living rooms and bedrooms. It strips off cleanly years later, which protects your wall when you eventually redecorate.
3D & Waterproof Panels — ~₵60–65 per roll (panels quoted per sqm)
PVC and foam 3D effects for feature walls. Note that sculpted 3D wall panels are usually priced per square metre rather than per roll, so we quote those on the wall.
Textile & Grasscloth — ~₵200–400 per roll
Silk, linen and natural grasscloth give the richest, most tactile finish. They cost more because the material is genuinely different — see our textile wallcovering guide for where they belong.
Why the Roll Price Is Only Half the Story
A roll on a shelf is not a finished wall. The other half of your cost is installation, and it is quoted on survey for honest reasons:
- Wall area in square metres — the single biggest driver
- Wall condition — old paper to strip, cracks to fill, damp to treat
- Pattern repeat and waste — large or directional repeats waste more material
- Access and detail — high walls, cornices, switches and windows all add labour
A small feature wall behind a sofa is a different job from papering a full double-height stairwell, even at the same roll price. That is why we do not publish a fixed per-square-metre rate before seeing the wall.
A Note on Honesty and “Bargain” Rolls
The market in Accra is full of imported rolls sold on price alone. A low roll price often hides a thin material that shows seams, a pattern that does not match across drops, or an adhesive that lifts on a humid wall within a season. We would rather specify the right wallcovering for your room than the lowest number on the shelf — because a wall that needs redoing in a year is the most expensive wall of all. For a fuller breakdown by type, our wallpaper cost in Ghana guide goes deeper.
How to Budget Sensibly
- Decide the room and the look first — that fixes the wallcovering type, which fixes the roll range.
- Measure the wall roughly — width times height gives you square metres; divide by roll coverage for a rough roll count.
- Add preparation honestly — an old or damp wall needs work before any paper goes up.
- Book a free survey — so the installation figure is real, not a guess.
If you want a wall costed properly, the fastest route is a free measure. We will tell you the wallcovering that suits the room, the indicative roll range, and a firm installation quote — no fixed rate quoted before the wall is seen.
